The three terrace systems that work

• APP membrane — a torch-fused sheet that forms a seamless, highly durable barrier. Best for large, flat terraces and exposed roofs.
• Brick bat coba — a traditional layered brick-and-mortar system that adds slope, strength and thermal insulation. Ideal where you also want to cool the floor below.
• Roofseal liquid coating — a flexible, seamless membrane that’s easy to detail around pipes and corners, often used as a top layer.

What affects the cost

Pricing depends on the terrace area, the condition of the existing surface, the number of cracks and pipe penetrations, and the system chosen. A small, sound terrace needing a coating costs far less than a large terrace needing membrane plus coba. The only honest way to quote is an on-site assessment.
